  • P&O’s founder Arthur Anderson, invented cruising before he owned a single ship!

Cruise news:

  • CLIA optimistic about 2021 cruising, 66% of cruisers are willing to cruise within the next 12 months, while almost 60% of international vacationers who have never cruised are likely to take a voyage in the next few years, the poll found.
  • MSC Grandiosa will return to sea from 24 January resuming resume her planned weekly cruises leaving every Sunday from Genoa, Italy and calling the other Italian ports of Civitavecchia (Rome), Naples, Palermo as well as Valetta in Malta. Embarkation will be available from each port in Italy.
  • VIKING Cruises has revealed that British broadcaster Anne Diamond will be the godmother for the line’s upcoming 930-passenger ship, Viking Venus. Diamond has enjoyed a distinguished career as a journalist in the UK, a career spanning more than 40 years and covering key events such as the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.
  • PANDAW has unveiled new spacious suite sizes on board select vessels, doubling the space of its regular suites. The new offering is available to book on the line’s larger P Class ships which service popular Asian destinations such as Vietnam, Cambodia and Burma.
  • SILVERSEA Cruises continues to show its belief in a strong future for the sector, with the new Silver Dawn floating out in Ancona, Italy. The new ship, a sister vessel to both Silversea’s flagship Silver Muse and Silver Moon. Launching in Nov 2021, she will boost Silversea’s fleet to 10 vessels.
  • COSTA Cruises’ Costa Toscana has floated out at the Meyer Turku shipyard. Toscana is a LNG-powered ship, with Costa Chief Commercial Officer Mario Zanetti saying the cruise line is focused on a transformation of its fleet and operations into a sustainable model.
  • CARNIVAL, steel was cut for Carnival Celebration, Carnival Cruise Line’s next Excel-class ship, at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland. Carnival Celebration is a sister ship to Mardi Gras, and is scheduled to begin sailing from PortMiami in Nov 2022 as part of Carnival Cruise Line’s 50th birthday festivities.
  • CELEBRITY Cruises will sail the 2022-2023 Caribbean Winter Season with an all-star cast of eight award-winning ships, including its newest, ground-breaking Edge Series ships – Celebrity Apex and Celebrity Edge. They will be joined by four ships recently ‘revolutionised’ as part of a multi-million-dollar fleet renovation program, Celebrity Equinox, Celebrity Millennium, Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Summit; and two additional gems in the fleet, Celebrity Constellation and Celebrity Reflection.
  • CELEBRITY cruises: Following an eight-year absence, Celebrity Cruises announced, today, its return to the Mexican Riviera with a variety of 7-night and 8-night sailings. Departing from the Port of Los Angeles, Celebrity Millennium will offer twelve sailings from late September through mid-December 2022, before embarking on a special 15-night bucket-list Panama Canal crossing over the holidays.
  • SAGA, the leading provider of products and services for customers over the age of 50, has experienced a notable increase in interest for holidays in recent weeks. This comes as those over 50, who will, of course, receive the vaccine first, look ahead to future adventures.
  • OCEANIA Cruises, the world’s leading culinary-and-destination-focused cruise line, unveiled its 2023 Around The World in 180 Days voyage, which opens for bookings on 28 January. Departing San Francisco on 15 January 2023, world travellers sailing on this voyage aboard the 684-guest Insignia will experience 96 fascinating destinations in 33 countries across four continents. Guests will have a myriad of in-depth and immersive experiences, with multi-day stays in 20 ports of call from South America to Africa to Asia and Alaska. This includes the unprecedented opportunity to witness the splendour of Antarctica first-hand with three full days cruising in Admiralty Bay, Paradise Bay, and Half Moon Island. Notably this world voyage does not visit Australia, New Zealand or Europe.
  • CRYSTAL Endeavor, the German-built, PC6-designated vessel for Crystal Expedition Cruises is on track to debut in Summer 2021. Originally set to launch in August of 2020, the ship’s construction was delayed as the global health crisis forced a shutdown of MV WERFTEN where Crystal Endeavor is currently under construction. The shipyard has reopened fully this year and Crystal is pleased with the resumption of work on the vessel.
  • ROYAL CARIBBEAN GROUP today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Azamara brand to Sycamore Partners, a private equity firm specializing in consumer, retail and distribution investments, in an all-cash carve-out transaction for $201 million, subject to certain adjustments and closing conditions.
  • PRINCESS Cruises has announced Pacific Princess will leave its fleet, having been bought by an undisclosed buyer. Pacific Princess first joined the cruise line’s fleet in 2002, and originally entered service in 1999 as R Three for Renaissance Cruises. The ship sailed more than 1.6 million nautical miles, including 11 world cruises.
